Submit your stories for a chance to win prizes and book bundles!

The WriteUP Short Story Competition is an exciting new venture brought to the University of Portsmouth. This award is the result of a new project created and led by the University’s Level 5 English Literature students.

This prize is for short stories written by anyone currently working or studying at the University. We wanted to give everyone an equal chance at unleashing their creativity, therefore there is no restriction on theme or genre. The competition is open to all students and University staff and asks for entries of 3,000 words, but can be up to any length up to and including this.

The deadline for entering the competition is midnight on Friday the 9th March 2018. Submissions need to be made to the following email english@port.ac.uk with the subject title WriteUP Short Story Entry. Make sure to proofread your work because once submitted, your story can no longer be edited!

Our panel of judges will announce those shortlisted on Friday 23rd March

Shortlisted candidates will be sent an email inviting them to the Winner’s Ceremony. If you’re shortlisted make sure you attend! The winner will be announced at the Ceremony on Thursday 29th March.

This prize is in collaboration with the charity Beanstalk which encourages children to read if they’ve fallen behind. We are all very excited to support this great charity, and encourage reading in all forms. Please visit their website to learn more at this address https://www.beanstalkcharity.org.uk/

If you would like to make a donation to the charity then please visit our JustGiving page at https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/writeup
